The Logline
When his zoologist daughter sends a flock of endangered penguins to his pristine, high-tech penthouse for safekeeping, solar energy tycoon Tom Popper must rely on his old “flightless” friends to take down a corrupt oil developer—turning his voice-activated smart home into a frozen battleground in the process.

The Extended Synopsis
The Solar King Tom Popper (Jim Carrey) thought he had put the ice behind him. Fifteen years later, the real estate shark has evolved into a renewable energy tycoon. He trades snow for solar panels, living a meticulously organized life in a fully automated, voice-activated smart mansion in New York. He is obsessed with efficiency, cleanliness, and the temperature being exactly 72 degrees.
The Special Delivery But the peace is shattered when his daughter Janie (Madeline Carroll), now a rugged zoologist in Antarctica, uncovers a threat. A rival energy conglomerate, “Black Gold Corp,” plans to drill right through the penguins’ mating grounds. With nowhere else to turn, she ships Captain, Loudy, Bitey, and their unruly, teenage offspring straight to Grandpa Popper’s doorstep. The reunion is chaotic. Jim Carrey delivers his signature rubber-faced shock as he opens a crate to find a penguin wearing his limited-edition loafers.
The Smart Home Siege The comedy stems from the clash between nature and technology. The penguins discover “ALEXA” (or the movie equivalent, “JIVES”).

- They accidentally order 500 pounds of sardines on overnight delivery.
- They learn to slide on the polished marble floors, treating the Roomba vacuums like bumper cars.
- They hack the thermostat, turning the penthouse into a literal freezer, forcing Popper to conduct high-stakes business meetings in a parka while pretending his heating is just “broken.”
The Villain The threat follows them home. The CEO of Black Gold Corp (played with oily villainy by Will Arnett) arrives in New York to force a merger that would destroy Popper’s green legacy and the penguins’ home. He suspects Popper is hiding something. Popper must juggle the corporate merger, his rekindled romance with Amanda (Carla Gugino)—who finds the penguin chaos charming—and keeping twelve birds hidden from the prying eyes of the board of directors.
The Climax Chaos ensues during the “Gala of the Century” hosted at Popper’s penthouse. The penguins escape their confinement, turning the black-tie event into a slip-and-slide disaster. In a moment of pure Jim Carrey physical comedy, Popper leads the birds in a synchronized “distraction dance” to stop the villains from signing the drilling contract. He realizes that a perfectly organized life is boring; a life filled with love (and fish smells) is worth fighting for.

Why This Pitch Works
- The Physical Comedy: The “Smart Home” setting is a playground for Carrey. Watching him fight a voice-assistant that listens to penguins instead of him is instant gold.
- The Message: It updates the environmental theme for 2026. Solar vs. Oil is a relevant backdrop for a family movie.
- The Legacy: Seeing the original kids (Carroll and Cotton) as adults adds a nice layer of continuity, showing that the love for animals was passed down.
